A Christian steward receives God’s gifts gratefully, develops them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them lovingly in justice with others, and returns them with increase to the Lord. Stewardship is an inner attitude which recognizes that everything we have is a gift from God: our time, our talents, and our treasure. God invites us to offer these gifts back in service. All Christians are called to be stewards of all God’s gifts. From the earth, to our country, our local community, our church family, to our family and to ourselves, we need to care for God’s creation at all levels and do what we can to share our gifts and talents wherever we can. A good steward also looks for talents in others and encourages them to put these gifts to work. Most of us don’t have visible gifts that lead to fame and fortune. But everyone has one or more talents, that is, special gifts from God. Every talent is valuable in carrying out God’s plan.
